Remember 3.11 - at Ishinomaki, Tohoku, Japan

It has been already one year since the earthquake and the tsunami stroke the region of Tohoku in Japan. Among all the towns and villages destroyed by the giant wave, Ishinomaki (Miyagi-ken) called for volunteers workers last year so I have been there...

Message from Tohoku

Human losses... material destruction... forever trauma... but still this sense of saying arigatou. Thank you Tohoku people, thank you all who teach us dignity and humanity. Love and Courage. 皆さん、こちらこそ、ありがとう！！！頑張れ！！！

Volunteering in Tohoku, Part 7 - Celebration

September 11th 2011 : 6 months ago, the quake; 6 months ago, the wave; 6 months ago, death. Half a year later, they celebrate life. Ishinomaki slowly gets better : cars are not floating in the trees and the roofs anymore ; more and more destroyed areas...

From Malian Kids to Tohoku Kids

Mali has no seashore, which means, no tsunami. Sometimes the rivers flood the lands in the Southern regions; but the biggest part of the country suffers from the dryness and desperatly lacks of water. For a very long time, Japan has helped Mali to quench...

Volunteering in Tohoku, Part 5 - Saturday Mud Fever

Third trip to Ishinomaki, Miyagi-ken, Tohoku, Japan, with the AFJ ! What's new in this city that has been heavily striken by the tsunami in March 2011 ? There are still kilometers of ruins, tons of garbage close to the sea, and people volunteering everywhere...
